This Is How Most People Shop For A Home Loan
Every year thousands of people mess up the home financing process. They
call a few lenders and ask them what their best rates are. That's
it!
But that's not what you should do because of two reasons. In the first
place, the quote you'll get over the phone is worthless and, second,
you reveal that you do not know what you are doing.
Lenders can quote low, get your application, and then when you are
committed to them they sell you the loan at a higher rate. This is a
sneaky
tactic many lenders and brokers use, but there's no way you can prove
it.
The point is, in a high interest rate environment, some unscrupulous
lenders
will pretty much say...do...or promise anything to make you one of
their clients. Even if it means outright lying to your face!
Many offer promotions like an introductory rate of 3% below prime for

your interest rate will be pushed up again.
Another strategy banks use to get extra bonus money out of you is to
try
and convince you to switch your checking and savings account to them -
in addition to taking out a mortgage.
Research has shown them that if you have at least three types of
accounts at the same bank, chances are you will remain a customer
for life.
